Lakewood is a Denver suburb, so its music culture mirrors the Front Range. Local parks host summer concert series, while Belmar Park draws families for outdoor acoustic and Latin shows. Most rock and indie activity happens in Denver clubs on Colfax Avenue.

The Bonfils-Stanton Amphitheater at Belmar Park hosts summer concerts. Bars along West Colfax book acoustic sets and small jazz combos. Rockley Music Center provides instruments for students and community bands. For larger rock shows, musicians head five miles east into Denver.

Guitarist Chris Broderick, who later joined Megadeth, was born in Lakewood. Folk songwriter Carla Sciaky, in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, is based here. Local acts regularly play Belmar Park.

Attend the Sounds Exciting summer series at Belmar Park for Latin, folk, and rock acts. Check community center bulletin boards for open mics. Denver is five miles east; connect with its Red Rocks, Colfax, and RiNo scenes. Belmar cafes host acoustic sets on weekends.
