Whittier is a suburban city in southeastern Los Angeles County with a long tradition of school music programs, community theater, and local bands playing at neighborhood bars. Its location makes it a commuter town, so much of the music audience also travels into Los Angeles for larger concerts.

Small performances occur at local restaurants, community centers, church halls, and the high school auditorium. For bigger rooms and professional bills, artists and fans typically head east toward downtown Los Angeles or north toward Pasadena.

Local and regional artists perform here, with musicians from the nearby Los Angeles scene occasionally passing through.

Get involved with the high school music department, community choir, or local theater group. Pick up weekend acoustic gigs at neighborhood cafes, but expect to drive into Los Angeles for clubs, showcases, and recording opportunities.
