Terms of Service
These Terms of Service describe the agreement between you and Bandmate (a project of X Enterprises, LLC) about how you can use the site. By browsing the directory, creating an account, posting a listing, or writing to another member, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
When you sign up
Bandmate is open to anyone 16 or older. If you are between 16 and 18, a parent or guardian must have read these Terms and agreed to them on your behalf before you post a listing or contact another member. We may ask for proof of age and remove accounts we reasonably believe belong to under-16 users.
You also confirm that using Bandmate is legal where you live. A few jurisdictions restrict online classifieds, contact exchanges, or paid features; if you are unsure, check your local rules before you post. We try to comply with regional rules but cannot give legal advice — please consult a local attorney if you have questions about your specific situation.
When you create an account, you pick a password. You are responsible for that password and for every action taken under your account. Use a unique, strong password. If you suspect someone has used your account without permission, change the password immediately and email security@bandmate.co. We will help you lock the account down and review recent activity.
When you post a listing
You own what you post. Your band description, your rehearsal clips, your photos, your replies — all of it is yours. By posting on Bandmate, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host that content on the site, surface it in search results, archive it in our cache, and (with your separate consent) feature it in editorial coverage of the platform.
Please don't post content that is unlawful, that infringes another person's copyright, that exposes someone else's private information without their consent, that promotes violence or hatred, or that you know to be false and harmful to someone. Posts that break these rules can be removed without notice; repeat violations can result in account closure.
You can take a listing down at any time from your dashboard. Deleted listings leave public search within about 24 hours, though external caches (Google, Bing, archive services) may take longer to clear as the wider web re-crawls them.
When you contact another member
Bandmate lets you send a message to any member whose listing you want to respond to. Your message is delivered to the email address on file for that member. We don't read the content of those messages — only the fact that a contact happened (timestamp, sender, recipient), which we use for abuse investigations and to improve matching over time.
If a member you met on Bandmate asks you for money via wire transfer, gift card, cryptocurrency, or any pressure tactic that doesn't feel right, end the conversation and report the listing. Common-sense caution protects both of you. We do not run escrow services, we do not verify the identity of every member, and we cannot recover funds lost in a scam. The general disclaimer sets out the limits of our responsibility in more detail.
When you browse the directory
Browsing Bandmate is free. Every listing in the directory is visible to every member. We do not sell priority placement, featured listings, or algorithm boosts — your listing ranks by relevance, freshness, and the filters a member uses to search. If that ever changes, this section of the Terms will be updated and active members will be emailed at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
If something goes wrong
If a listing is inaccurate, fraudulent, harassing, or otherwise in violation of these Terms, report it from the listing page or email abuse@bandmate.co. We aim to acknowledge abuse reports within one business day and to resolve clear-cut violations within three business days.
If you believe someone has infringed your copyright on a Bandmate listing, send a takedown notice to dmca@bandmate.co with the listing URL, a description of the original work, your contact information, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@bandmate.co from the address on file. We confirm the closure within two business days. Listing content is removed from public view within 24 hours, and account data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records for any paid features you used).
The legal fine print
The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the directory will be uninterrupted, that listings will be accurate, or that any particular outcome will result from using the service. Our total liability to you under these Terms is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow liability caps; in those places, the cap is the minimum permitted by law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Questions about these Terms? Email legal@bandmate.co. We read every message and aim to reply within two business days.
